Singing Fields and Natures Gain |
|
In their reports, Singing Fields and Natures Gain, the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust highlight the role of gamekeepers in conserving many non-game birds. Many songbirds and other bird species have dramatically declined in recent decades but, as this report shows, many of these species continue to thrive on land that is managed by gamekeepers, with areas of burnt and short heather providing ideal nesting areas for waders. As a result, the North Pennines is a Natura 2000 site for 700 pairs golden plover, and 3,900 pairs of curlew. The report can be downloaded from the GWCT site by following this link
